Quey Duo
For more than 15 years, Quey [“Kway”] Percussion Duo (Gene Koshinski and Tim Broscious) has shared their passion for music and the art of percussion with a global audience.
To establish their distinct musical voice, QPD highlights their unique
combination of classical training with their experience and interest in global and popular music over a wide spectrum of musical aesthetics. In addition to many national and international tours in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Jordan, and the UK; QPD has worked with music festivals, art galleries, conventions (including 4 PASIC appearances), professional orchestras, chamber music series’, recorded for the Naxos, Centaur, and Equilibrium record labels, and have engaged in more than 50 university residencies.
Recent highlights include performances in London, Strasbourg, and Lyon and a 2-week tour of Brazil in São Paulo, Campinas, Rio de Janeiro, and Tatuí. Upcoming highlights include performances of their unique duo concerto, soniChroma, with several different orchestras in the US; an Australian concert tour with stops in Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne, and Perth; and the completion of a CD project featuring works written for the duo.
With a passion for new music, their work with reputable composers such as Emmanuel Séjourné, Alejandro Viñao, Casey Cangelosi, Stuart Saunders Smith, Adam Silverman, David Macbride, David Gordon, Ben Wahlund, Dave Hollinden and many others has helped expand the repertoire. QPD themselves have contributed many works to the genre and their three composition contests have generated more than 170 new works for percussion duo.
QPD serves as Artists in Residence at the University of Minnesota Duluth where they teach chamber music and co-direct a graduate percussion program. QPD is endorsed by Pearl/Adams, Sabian, Innovative Percussion, and Remo.
Drew Tucker
Drew Tucker is a musician, educator, and social entrepreneur—a unique combination of talents that place him at the intersection of the arts and activism. Artistically, he’s at the forefront of the movement to reinvent the vibraphone—a dynamic instrument thathe melds with soul, funk, jazz and hip-hop influences. He has shared the stage with Shaun Martin, Mani Hoffman, Jeff Coffin, Tom Hurst, Nebojsa Zivkovic, Norah Jones, Mark Ford to name a few. He has toured extensively throughout America and most recently, his band ‘The New Standard’ finished a 3-week tour of Central America. His jazz influenced twists on modern-day standards from Michael Jackson to Prince and The Police,have earned him key endorsements from Innovative Percussion, Musser, Beetle Percussion, Lot Riot and Sabian Cymbals—and the esteemed title of “Cultural Ambassador” by the U.S. Department of State and the applause of sold-out audiences worldwide.
The passion he brings to the stage is also present in his classroom.As one of the founders of MalletLab, Drew brings in more than 75 students per year from around the globe to learn with 10 of the world’s top educators and performers in mallet percussion. He served as the percussion director at Boca Raton High School from 2004–2018,was a Front Ensemble Consultant for the Blue Stars in 2017 and for the Blue Coats in 2018. This year he is one of the guest artists at the University of North Texas Keyboard Percussion Workshop and the featured artist at the Patagonia Percussion Festival in General Roca, Argentina. Drew is one of the most sought-after educators in mallet education, which he led to him being a top front ensemble coach and one of the most coveted speakers in his field.
As a community activist, he’s driven to revitalize underserved areas through the creation of arts centers in underserved neighborhoods and was the key factor in the development of Arts Garage in Delray Beach, the Bailey & Ali Cultural Arts Center in Pompano Beach and Old School Square in Delray Beach. Through his leadership and musicianship, he strives to not only raise spirits, but set anexample of excellence and open opportunities for students, families and communities to realize their potential.
Whether performing alongside Grammy winners as a world-class vibraphonist, coaching eager high school students through national music competitions, or leading and directing the growth of local arts institutions, Drew's passion for improving people’s lives through artistic endeavor is unwavering. Drew currently tours solo and with his band ‘The New Standard,’ serves regularly as a guest clinician and speaker, and is the percussion director at Kell High School in Marietta Georgia.
Emrah Kotan
Emrah Kotan is a classically trained percussionist who came to the United States from his native Turkey and received a Master's degree in Jazz Studies from Georgia State University. His debut album, The New Anatolian Experience, is a collection of original compositions and arrangements that fuse world music and jazz, creating stylistically sophisticated vibes and a genuine model of personal artistic expression.
After playing some of the most renowned venues in the world such as the Istanbul Jazz Festival, Playboy Jazz Festival and The Blue Note in New York, Emrah is one of the most sought after musicians in the Atlanta music scene. His unique musical ability transcends many genres and cultures. He is involved in various musical projects, including his own, and is the drummer/percussionist for Grammy award winning artist, India.Arie.
Aside from performing, Emrah is an enthusiastic music educator who has conducted master classes and has taught many students over the years, some of which who have been awarded music scholarships by the colleges of their choice. Emrah teaches students of all ages privately and is the Director of the Jazz and World Percussion Ensembles at Agnes Scott College. He lives in Atlanta, GA.
